Different Payment Frequencies – How they work

Weekly – All payments are the same day of the subsequent week (7, 14, 21, 28)

Biweekly – Same as weekly, but two weeks apart (1, 15, 29)

Monthly – Dates are on the same day of each month (always on the 5th for example).  We also offer 3rd Wednesday of the month for certain disability / SSI pay dates.

Semi-monthly – Dates are typically on the same two dates of the month, except for the 15th and last day of the month.  By request, we can also add the 1st and the 15th as a custom frequency.  Here are the most common:

  • 1,16
  • 5,20
  • 10,25
  • 15 and last day of the month

Date Roll – When you roll a payment date forward due to a weekend or national holiday.  This typically comes into play for ACH payments, since you can not process ACH payments on the weekend.  Most payroll happens the day before (typically Friday).  The outliers are people that get paid monthly or semi-monthly and their payment falls on a Monday that is a bank holiday.  These payments get pushed to the previous Friday.
